Pink Oyster mushrooms are a great beginner mushroom and easy to grow. This culture is a tropical species and prefers warmer temperatures and a higher humidity in comparison to other commercial oyster species.

Pink oysters are a stunningly beautiful mushroom with a striking pink color. Pink oysters have been shown to have the highest protein content of all commercially grown oyster species. These oysters are a great addition to any seafood dish and can be used as a seafood substitute. Another great food alternative: pink oysters can be cooked to take on the flavor of bacon and can be used as vegan bacon bits. Make sure to thoroughly cook this mushroom to get the most out of your harvest.

What is a liquid culture?

Liquid cultures are a mixture of mushroom mycelium and a liquid nutrient blend. Liquid culture inoculation of grain is able to be performed in clean areas with very little air movement.

Directions:

Use this liquid culture on grains, such as Myterra Labs' Organic Rye or Organic Oats. One syringe is able to inoculate 2 bags of grain. This culture can also be used to inoculate agar plates and liquid culture jars to expand the culture.

Pink Oyster mushrooms will need to be fruited on Myterra Labs Woodlovers substrate. Once your grain is fully colonized by the mycelium, you will have enough spawn to add into 2-8 bags of Woodlovers. Trying to produce mushrooms from grain is very difficult and does not yield as many mushrooms. Once you have added your Pink Oyster spawn into your Woodlover Bags, seal the bag and shake it to evenly distribute the grains. Do not shake again after this step. Allow the Woodlover bag to colonize and watch as small mushrooms start to form over 1-2 weeks. Pink Oysters produce the best mushrooms when fruited from the side of the substrate. Once your Woodlover block is colonized and starting to turn a slight pink color, tape over the filter patch to ensure that no air can enter the bag, cut a 2" X on the side of the block with a clean knife, and place in a warm, humid environment to fruit.

Care instructions:

Ensure that you use a sterile technique to inoculate the grain bags: Wipe the outside of the bag or injection port with 70% isopropyl alcohol prior to inoculation and do not allow the syringe tip or needle to touch any items that have not been cleaned with alcohol.

Pink oysters cultures should be stored in a cool area with a capped syringe - DO NOT store excess liquid culture in the fridge.
