Lion's mane mushrooms are easy to grow, but do require some skill to obtain the beautiful rounded pom-pom shape. This is a commercial strain that produces dense, large globe-shaped mushrooms with long spines/teeth.

Lion's mane mushrooms are both a gourmet mushroom as well as a medicinal mushroom. When cooked, this mushroom is delicate, tender and juicy and absorbs the flavors that it is cooked with. When sliced into steaks and fried, this mushroom is fantastic as a vegan burger. Alternatively, the mushrooms can be torn into strips and used as a crab meat alternative due to its texture.

What is a liquid culture?

Liquid cultures are a mixture of mushroom mycelium and a liquid nutrient blend. Liquid culture inoculation of grain is able to be performed in clean areas with very little air movement.

Directions:

Use this liquid culture on grains, such as Myterra Labs' Organic Rye or Organic Oats. One syringe is able to inoculate 2 bags of grain. This culture can also be used to inoculate agar plates and liquid culture jars to expand the culture.

Lion's Mane mushrooms will need to be fruited on Myterra Labs Woodlovers substrate. Once your grain is fully colonized by the mycelium, you will have enough spawn to add into 2-8 bags of Woodlovers. Trying to produce mushrooms from grain is very difficult and does not yield as many mushrooms. Once you have added your Lion's Mane spawn into your Woodlover Bags, seal the bag and shake it to evenly distribute the grains. Do not shake again after this step. Allow the Woodlover bag to colonize and watch as small mushrooms start to form after 7-10 days. Lion's Mane mushrooms can be fruited from the top of the bag or the side of the bag. We recommend taping over the filter patch and cutting an X into the side of the bag for an easier harvest.

Fruits best in cooler temperatures (59-64F) with higher humidity (75-90%).

Care instructions:

Ensure that you use a sterile technique to inoculate the grain bags: Wipe the outside of the bag or injection port with 70% isopropyl alcohol prior to inoculation and do not allow the syringe tip or needle to touch any items that have not been cleaned with alcohol.

Store excess liquid culture in the fridge with a capped syringe.
