Golden Oyster mushrooms are a good beginner mushroom and will produce vibrant yellow clusters of mushrooms if grown under a bright light. Golden oysters can be slightly harder to fruit than white or blue oysters as they are very sensitive to changes in humidity.

Golden oysters are a tropical species and prefer slightly warmer temperature and high humidity. This strain produces beautiful, fragile bouquets of mushrooms with a unique fragrance. Golden Oysters are delicious with any meal, but are best paired with spicy dishes.

What is a liquid culture?

Liquid cultures are a mixture of mushroom mycelium and a liquid nutrient blend. Liquid culture inoculation of grain is able to be performed in clean areas with very little air movement.

Directions:

Use this liquid culture on grains, such as Myterra Labs' Organic Rye or Organic Oats. One syringe is able to inoculate 2 bags of grain. This culture can also be used to inoculate agar plates and liquid culture jars to expand the culture.

Golden Oyster mushrooms will need to be fruited on Myterra Labs Woodlovers substrate. Once your grain is fully colonized by the mycelium, you will have enough spawn to add into 2-10 bags of Woodlovers. Trying to produce mushrooms from grain is very difficult and does not yield as many mushrooms. Once you have added your Golden Oyster spawn into your Woodlover Bags, seal the bag and shake it to evenly distribute the grains. Do not shake again after this step. Allow the Woodlover bag to colonize completely over 1-2 weeks. Golden oysters form large yellow/grey lumps on the surface of the substrate before forming pins. Golden Oysters are able to be fruited from the top or the side of the bag, although we recommend fruiting from the top for larger clusters. When the yellow/grey lumps form on the top of your substrate, cut the top of the bag off place in a warm, humid environment to fruit.

Care instructions:

Ensure that you use a sterile technique to inoculate the grain bags: Wipe the outside of the bag or injection port with 70% isopropyl alcohol prior to inoculation and do not allow the syringe tip or needle to touch any items that have not been cleaned with alcohol.

Excess liquid culture should be stored in the fridge.
